Klein speaks with May Pundak, an Israeli lawyer and activist, and Rula Hardal, a Palestinian scholar, who co-lead A Land for All, a movement proposing a confederation of two states with open borders and freedom of movement across the whole land: two states, one homeland. They argue the 1967-based two-state model is dead in practice, with a million settlers making contiguity impossible, and that separation itself is the problem. Pundak explains why Israeli Jews need security guarantees and shared supranational institutions for security, water, and movement. Hardal describes the Palestinian experience of 1948 and 1967 and why Palestinians distrust sovereignty projects designed without them. Both insist the path forward is joint struggle and shared institutions rather than partition, a vision they admit is radical but, they argue, less fantastical than the status quo.
